1 Peter 1:1-2
6/16/19 - Drew Stevenson
When is a time in your life you’ve felt like a stranger? How is that a parallel to being a Christian in this world?
How does the truth that we are foreknown by God and chosen to be set apart to become like Jesus, affect the way you see your salvation? How does it affect the way you view God? (Reference Romans 8:29 if needed.)
Read Ephesians 1:3-6. What is God’s intent behind the mystery of predestination, according to these verses?
What is the practical application to the truth in verse 2 that we are sanctified by the Spirit for obedience and for sprinkling with His blood?
Give an opportunity for people in your group to share their testimony of the transforming work that Christ has done in their lives.
Which of God’s commandments feel like chains to you? Which ones are you rebelling against? What sin are you stuck in right now that you know will lead to disastrous consequences?
“On the path of obedience, we need to know Jesus loves us and covers us with His blood.” Allow time for confession of sin, repentance and praising God for the blood of Jesus, His grace and the peace that comes from relationship with Him.
